A friend in need

A Friend sent this via Facebook ... please read and help if you can ... Joseph is a solid black great dane...I will try to get pictures ...

Dear Friends,

On Thursday, November 4th, I lived every parent’s worst nightmare. My Joseph was taken into emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction and is still in intensive care with the possibility of further surgeries to save his life. In a moment my life changed.

As most of you know, almost three years ago I made a decision to walk away from the financial security of my corporate law job to devote my life to helping animals as an animal lawyer. Even though it has presented considerable financial challenges, I had never regretted that decision until Thursday. In that moment I found myself unable to pay for a medically necessary surgery to save Joseph’s life. I felt pretty small at that moment, and completely helpless.

Fortunately, the hospital agreed to work with me on payments...an interesting situation for someone who doesn’t get a regular paycheck. The bill is in excess of $3,000.00 with the potential to go considerably higher. Joseph is greatly loved by the doctors, nurses and other staff at the hospital. They were responsible for saving his life in March before I adopted him. Before he came to me, he had never lived inside a home, received any socialization or kindness. He nearly died when he came into rescue.

For those of you who have known me a long time, I’m not good at asking for help; I’m far better at offering it. However, I find myself in a position where I need to ask, and therefore I will. If anyone is inclined to make a donation for Joseph to help with medical costs, the hospital will accept credit cards via telephone or checks. I ask that if you love animals, if I’ve ever helped or been kind to you, or if you even like me just a little that you consider even the smallest donation to help me help this sweet, sweet boy. I know these are tough financial times for most people and I appreciate any consideration you may be able to offer. Please feel free to share this information if you know of anyone else who may wish to contribute as well.

Joseph has an incredibly gentle disposition and is an amazing boy. He has quite literally been a life saver to me over the past few months with losing both Justice and Presley. If you wish to help, please just let the staff know it’s a donation for Joseph.
