Snow and more Snow

We have SNOW ... pleanty of snow. Now so far we do not have as much as we did last year but we haven plenty and temperatures that are super low. Oh and wind ... did I mention Wind ... wind to the point that the kitties are not allowed outside out of fear that they will blow away.

We had a good Christmas - it was quiet and simple and nice. The cats played with their toys and enjoyed some nip. They napped and laid on us and watched tv. I have pictures :)

The day After Christmas

The presents had been opened and played with all night
Dad stepped on one giving quite a fright

Twas the day after Christmas and all in the house
Were napping and sleeping on every couch

Dreams of more ribbons, feathers and nip
Caused whickers to twitch and kitties to flip

Temptations and toys strewn about everywhere
Kitties lounging and lazing with out a care

Christmas was great we Purred and we Ate
Now we must wait for Christmas – don’t be late

We got SNOWs for Christmas .... lots of Snows
We got lots of toys and snuggles and hugs and kisses

Happy Christmas Eve

Hello to all fur friends and non-fur friends - this is NOT the post I had in mind yesterday when I was thinking about what to write however the events of last evening are too good to wait ... oh I wish I had pictures to show you but once you read what I have to tell you - you may be glad that there are no pictures.

You see my kitties have been BAD ... yes thats right ... BAD ... very very BAD

Was the eve of christmas eve and all through the house all you could smell was pecan pie :) I was baking pies to give for Christmas when I hear that sound all pet parents know that sound ... the uurp ggrruuurrpp uurpp sound right before the kitty pukes all over the new rug .... ha yes well I heard that sound and then I heard "No, LUCKY not on the RUG" and see Shon moving Lucky from the rug as he is barfing .... HA .. then surprised Shon says "he didnt puke on the rug" Well no, no he didnt however Lucky did take off in a sprint and managed to barf all over the rest of the house. All over the kitchen floor, down the hallway and in the extra bed room. Half a roll of paper towels later ... and the swiffer it was all clean and Lucky was whineing to be held as OBVIOUSLY he did not feel well.

So I contunied to bake my pies and Shon sat and held Lucky - of course Moosie needed to be close as well and he wanted to annoy Lucky becuase that is what he does so he laid on the sofa as well. So I thought this was the main event for the night ... ah but no .... I ran out of syrup ... so I could only make half the pies I had wanted to ... the store is about 30 minutes away as we live "out" so I deceided that I would have time to make them tonight and would get the syrup while out since I am working today. YAY!

Pies have come out of the oven and they are beautiful! I do make very pretty pies and I hear they are very tastie - I dont eat them - I just make them and since Im making more tonight I will take pictures of them and will post.

SO ... pies are out and Im sitting on the sofa with Bean and I notice that Scooter is being more odd than usual. As a reminder - Scooter is the cat that I found drounding in the lake and since becoming an adult will not willingly let you look at him much less touch him, he likes to lick plastic bags and is just a very strange cat. So he is int he kitchen being him and he has something in his mouth .. and hes pawing at it like its stuck so I say no no no you cant have that and I go toward him and he skurries ... Shon shuts all the doors in the house so he cant hide and in the process of him running to get away he PEEEsss on EVERYTHING and I do mean everything ... on the floor, on the walls, on a mirror on the wall and all over Shon who never actually touches him - FINALLY we get him and he has eaten half a dryer sheet ... now ... to some this may be odd to me its VERY strange since I dont use dryer sheets ... not sure where he got it but he did and he ate half of it ... This whole chasing and trying to grab and him Peeing everywhere scared poor little Tiny to no ends. He hid for over an hour after the ordeal had finished and when he did come out he was completly fluffed and walked ever so slowely ... poor little guy - he is a scairty one. Luckly Im friends with my vet on facebook - and I told her about and she was like humm never experienced this one - just watch him and if you need to we will be open tomorrow (meaning today) until 12.

SO this AM I am pleased to report that Scooter is alive and still being his normal odd self. However in the process of checking him out - from afar - I see that there is droplets of blood all over my floor ... humm ... then I see that Beans ear has been torn apart .. Oh My ... so Bean and I go to the bathroom and I attempt to wash his ear, which he is NOT pleased with but he gets through it ... and then I put some neosporen + pain on it and he seems fairly happy but not really. So Bean has his ear shredded (I need to take pics) and we heard nothing of it in the night. Not a peep ...

As it seems that most if not all my fur babies have been bad they may not get to see Santa this year ... HA yeah right ... Hope your babies have been good and get lots of toys and treats for Christmas. We may be getting more snow here in Virginia - hope your warm and full.

Merry Christmas!

A friend in need

A Friend sent this via Facebook ... please read and help if you can ... Joseph is a solid black great dane...I will try to get pictures ...

Dear Friends,

On Thursday, November 4th, I lived every parent’s worst nightmare. My Joseph was taken into emergency surgery for an intestinal obstruction and is still in intensive care with the possibility of further surgeries to save his life. In a moment my life changed.

As most of you know, almost three years ago I made a decision to walk away from the financial security of my corporate law job to devote my life to helping animals as an animal lawyer. Even though it has presented considerable financial challenges, I had never regretted that decision until Thursday. In that moment I found myself unable to pay for a medically necessary surgery to save Joseph’s life. I felt pretty small at that moment, and completely helpless.

Fortunately, the hospital agreed to work with me on payments...an interesting situation for someone who doesn’t get a regular paycheck. The bill is in excess of $3,000.00 with the potential to go considerably higher. Joseph is greatly loved by the doctors, nurses and other staff at the hospital. They were responsible for saving his life in March before I adopted him. Before he came to me, he had never lived inside a home, received any socialization or kindness. He nearly died when he came into rescue.

For those of you who have known me a long time, I’m not good at asking for help; I’m far better at offering it. However, I find myself in a position where I need to ask, and therefore I will. If anyone is inclined to make a donation for Joseph to help with medical costs, the hospital will accept credit cards via telephone or checks. I ask that if you love animals, if I’ve ever helped or been kind to you, or if you even like me just a little that you consider even the smallest donation to help me help this sweet, sweet boy. I know these are tough financial times for most people and I appreciate any consideration you may be able to offer. Please feel free to share this information if you know of anyone else who may wish to contribute as well.

Joseph has an incredibly gentle disposition and is an amazing boy. He has quite literally been a life saver to me over the past few months with losing both Justice and Presley. If you wish to help, please just let the staff know it’s a donation for Joseph.

Still no sign

Meep has still not made it home. Its been 2 weeks today. Every evening when I get home I yell for her like always and look to the barn in hopes she will come bounding out. I still have hope that she will come home but the thoughts that I keep trying to push further and further back in my mind are that she wont. That makes me sad. I still have 9 others that need love and foods and play time. They curl up with me on the sofa. My sofa that I have move to in front of the bay window so that I can keep an eye out for her - just in case.

In other news - Tiny was neutered on the 7th and is doing well. He is still about half the size he is suppose to be but is adorable.
I am zoomed in really far

Playing on the new floor

Shon was gone to California the week of the 4th from Sunday to Sunday of course all the things happened that week ... Meep went missing, was my birthday, Tiny was neutered and while he was gone I had the Kitchen and living room floor replaced. It was NUTS at my house. While things were crazy I was also off and able to look for Meep and now my floor looks great!

Of course I need a new blind in the window and new sofas but the floor - wow!

What a good little boy

I do have wedding pictures - I will work on getting some posted

Meep still Missing

The following has been done:
Looking, yelling and calling - daily and at different times
Fliers have been taped to all neighbors doors in a mile radius
Fliers have been stapled to stop signs
She has been listed on Tabbyfinder
She has been listed on our County missing list
She has been listed on neighboring county missing lists
The Humane Society has been notified
Our vets office has been notified

Where we live - we live in a rural area. My house sits on 18 acres with my closest neighbor being my mom and dad. The other closest neighbors house sits on about 20 acres. We at least 1/2 a mile from a busy road. We do have trees lots of them and open fields. Meep weighed about 7 pounds - from what I have read she would have been too heavy for a Hawlk to have carried off and really too heavy for an Owl as well. We hear coyotees but have never seen one near the house and typically they dont come out and hunt in day light - with that said of the cats that are outside she would be the fasest and is quite skilled in tree climbing.

She is very friendly but someone would have to know where we live for them to come up and get her. I hope she has just wondered off while chasing a butterfly and gotten lost. Maybe some old lady took her in to feed her and shes liking it on the sofa. I dont know. All I do know is I miss my little red kitty on my bed at night. I miss her laying on me on the blanket "nursing" the blankie. I miss her and Tiny playing in the floor and her holding him down until he cries. He looks for her. WaterMelon looks for her. Man if cats could talk ...

Meepie is Missing

Meep went out like she always does last Monday morning the 4th and she has not come home. Momy took off half of Tuesday (her birfiday) Wednesday, Thursday and Friday to look for Meep with no luck. She looked all weekend too, and Monday was a holiday ... so Momy looked for 7 days and no Meep ... we miss her lots!!!

Come home soon Meep!

Cats Love Horses Too

ButterBean here - I dont usually do this but this Horse Rescue is local to us and a friend e-mailed this to me. With no better way to know how to get it out there I have gone to the blog .... if you can help them I know they will appreciate it.

State of the Rescue: Almost every day someone will ask me how things are going at the rescue. Well folks it's not going good. Right now it's REALLY BAD. The number of unwanted horses keeps going up right along with the bills to take care of them, and no funds are coming in. We have maxed out the number of horses we can care for right along with every rescue credit card and personal credit cards so that we can care for these horses in need. We can't do it anymore without some help. At this point all I can do is Plead to each of you for HELP. If you are a family with a horse in your life you know how costly it can get. Multiply that one horse by 25. We don't ask for these horses, we don't go to auctions and buy them. They are sent to us mostly because somewhere along the line someone has turned their back on them and left them to die.

The Financial numbers are depressing and scary so far for 2010 RVHR has received $58,594.00 in donations and spent $74,829.22 to care for them. As of today 9/12/2010 we need to come up with $16,235.22 just to zero out the past due amounts.

Can you help with just a $5.00 donation? We're not asking for hundreds or even thousands of dollars we're just asking for $5.00 bucks.

Here is our link to GiveDirect if you would like to make a online donation.http://r20.rs6.net/tn.jsp?llr=matavecab&et=1103681454102&s=1798&e=001vNruhqADt9XF26ej0aNQBer6bIgvUULz7p7YyJeKb5P2syXaiNhIt8V8kahQ1l2WWx2KxAYYlSsG7njNdrNijiIReSOYsRL9yDSVxBL-SGzGbehx46OFp1W1OPQs-Efp9qlzG8aE_p2U0azQDZCKbLH79qs18SU1

Water

As you are aware we stayed at Sandals Whitehouse in Jamaica for our Honeymoon! Jamaica is really a nice place. The food we ate was sooo wonderful! I wish now that I had taken pictures of our meals as they were beautifully served and tasted great!

Lets talk about the water. It was beautiful and warm. Warmer than my bath water. You could walk out in the water for a long it and it just come up to your belly button. They had it roped off so you couldent go far because of the coral. The coral comes up really high and breaks the water. The water is more like lake as there are not any waves. Unless its out where the coral comes up above the water line.

There are mountains. In fact it kinda looked like home but with ocean.

HoneyMoon Anyone?

So we will have to do things a little backward as I have puctures of Jamaica but do not have the wedding pictures back yet. SO for now we will travel to Jamaica Mon and see some sights and pretty things.

We stayed at Sandals Whitehouse

So lets begin with the fact that Shon hates to fly. Flaming ball of doom are his words exactly. We left from Roanoke VA to Charoltte NC to Montego Bay Jamaica - the flights were good ... took off and landed well everytime. No problem!

Get to Jamaica - retrieve our bags and are warmly welcomed our passports stamped! We waited in a cozy little place with multiple chairs, couches and drink fountain - ah beer fountain as well. However all they serve in Jamaice is Red Stripe beer as it is brewed there.

We get in a van/bus thing ... and off we go an hour and a half drive on the most horrid road ever with pot holes larger than the car we arrive ... Pay no attention to the dates we arrived on Saturday August 22 and left on Friday August 27.
